#23 Oh Yeh, I've done it.

Well, I've finally reached the end, or is it the beginning? Seriously I have enjoyed the challenge even though I've had to put in hours at home and fight off the offspring to use the computer.
Really liked the challenge of rss feeds once I got my head around it! Overall it was a great learning experience.

#22 Audiobooks

Love the concept of ebooks and being able to download a book to your mp3 player. Although I wonder in the far future what jobs in libraries will entail? Also the availability of broadband access would feature prominently in this process, imagine the time it would take to download an entire book using dialup. Still, we are heading to the future and by the time Libraries have evolved into ebooks as their main reading source, I'm sure that something even better than broadband will have come to pass. Gotta checkout http://www.ebooks.com/.

#21 Podcasts

Had a look at the podcast sites and liked http://www.podcast.net/ the best. Found some really cool stuff in the Sports - Basketball category ( my kids are basketball mad) www.podcast.net/cat/64 but although it had an rss feed button it informed me no feeds were found. Tried the Gardening category and was able to add that to my bloglines account. !!??
Can see the good and bad aspects of podcasts, depending on what you want to use them for, seems explicit content is easy to access even when you're not even looking for it!

#20 You 2 can U tube

Love this site, chose the video for it's fun factor & I can relate to the antics that pet birds can get up to. But I'm sure that features of this site will be useful in Library settings in the future. Such as 'how to' videos about the Library’s online features etc.

#19 Discovering Web 2.0 tools.

It was interesting checking out the various award winning sites. So much information in one place! My favourites apart from the ones we have already covered, http://www.flickr.com/ & http://www.librarything.com/ and the ones I have already discovered and used, http://www.utube.com/ & http://www.maps.google.com/ were http://www.fuzzmail.org/ something fun & http://www.clipmarks.com/. Can definitely see that some of the sites will benefit in Libraries in the future but probably not the ones I chose.

#18 Web based Apps

I joined up Zoho and had a bit of a play around. Not a bad tool but I think I would rather use my microsoft Office. Didn't explore the Google one as I have spent too much time playing with this.

http://show.zoho.com/public/kerrib/d-nationalgeographicsphotos2006.pps

Thought I'd share a joke with you that arrived via my email.

A Kindergarten pupil told his teacher he'd found a cat, but it was dead. "How do you know that the cat was dead?" she asked him. "Because I pissed in it's ear and it didn't move," answered the child innocently. "You did WHAT?!!" the teacher exclaimed in surprise. "You know," explained the boy. "I leaned over and went 'Pssst!' and it didn't move."

Why we love CHILDREN!!

I am now going to publish this to my blog.

#17 Playing with PBWiki

Added my Blog to the Favorite Blogs page.
Can't really be bothered bloging about this one. Instead I'm going to add a photo of our Rainbow Lorikeet called Rusty. This photo was taken when he/she was about 8 weeks old.

#16 So what's in a Wiki?

O.k. I now know stuff about Wiki that I didn't know before doing this exercise. Knew about Wikipedia , but didn't realise it was the only Wiki option, so to speak. Can definitely see the concept being useful as Library's head to the future of technology and online resources. It's sure to make a big imprint at some stage in the future.

#15 Library & Web 2.0

Can definitely see Library's changing in the future, everyone is going to have to keep up with Technology at some time or another, or get left behind. Look at how much has changed in the last 30 years. Computers weren't heard of when I first started work.

Guestbook

Cool, just added a Guestbook to my Blog, please feel free to visit.

#14 Getting not so Tech.

Signed in with Technorati and had a look around which just confirmed my thought that there are a lot of people into blogging.
Did the standard search for learning 2.0 which resulted in 688 Blogs & 6,936 posts. There were 688 posts tagged and the Blog directory search listed 685 blogs.
I particularly liked the entertainment Blog tag. Pity we don't have a P.C. in the lunch room, I'd never have to pay for magazines again just for some light reading at lunch time and to catch up with all the celebrity gossip.!!!

#13 Tagging & Del.icio.us

Found it all very interesting but it is not something I would use everyday. In this age of technology though, I can see where it would be useful for some people. Didn't realize Blogging was so popular before doing this learning 2.0 exercise. Knew it existed but not to such the extent you find when exploring this kind of stuff, there are Blogs galore out there!
Thought about creating a Del.icio.us account but decided have already made enough accounts I'll never use again.

#12 Rollyo

Liked this exercise, simple and straight forward. Created a Rollyo account and made a search roll which I have added to my blog. Handy little tool for people who use the web all the time searching for stuff. Don't know if it is something I would find useful on an every day basis. I'm finding all the various options on the web interesting, and I think my kids are getting jealous of what I'm learning, also I find it a good excuse to commandeer the computer because I need it more than them, my stuffs work related!!! But I must say they are willing to help if I ask, better put that in, in case they read this,
Thanks T love U. xxx

#11 LibraryThing

I think this was a very interesting site. Love books and reading when I can find the time, so had a great time adding books to my Library. I especially liked the suggestion tab where you have the LibrarySuggester, BookSuggester and UnSuggester elements, hoping to explore them further when time permits, as I'm always looking for something good to read and it will be good to know what other people have been reading that have the same taste in books that I do. Also managed to make a standard blog widget to add to my blog.

#8&9 RSS & Newsreader

Checked this out, got a Blogger account and subscribed to some cool stuff. Found it really interesting, but don't know when I'll get the time to keep up with it all. This exercise has taken the most time so far but luckily I can do a bit at home. If only there were more hours in the day. I got this picture from the National Geographic site I subscribed to.
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/animals.html
I'll now attempt to provide the url to my blogline account.

#7 Technology

Technology is really speeding along these days with the advantage of being able to purchase all these new fan dangled appliances which are designed to save money (in the long run), marriages (nice try), and your sanity (if you can figure the god-damned contraption out!!) Basically it's a matter of "keep up or get left behind" so keep up we try and do, although it is not always easy. So... my two favorite aspects of today's technology are the Digital Camera and In Car G.P.S. Navigation Systems.

I choose the Digital Camera because I really think this comes as close to the "best thing since sliced bread" as it gets. Remember the days when you would load a film into the camera and for the next 6 months, maybe more maybe less depending on how Snap Happy your feeling at the time, and simply hope for the best. How many times have you wasted the last 5 frames on the film just so you could take the film in to be developed and discovered you hadn't loaded the $*#@*?? thing properly in the first place. Tears and tantrums because all those special moments you thought you'd captured, gone forever. With a Digital Camera this will never happen again, take the picture, view it, if it's no good delete it and take another. God Bless The Digital Age.

The G.P.S. comes a close 2nd in the sliced bread contender because I think this little gadget may actually come close to saving marriages. I'm sure you have all at some time or other had the experience of trying to navigate through city traffic (especially if you are country folk) and not having a clue where you are going and the person next to you has no idea how to read a map. Sure to have an unhappy ending. With a G.P.S. even it you do take a wrong turn, it will get you back on track again without having to stop at the next Petrol Station to ask directions and get more confused. Stress free travel, I rest my point.

#6 Trading Card/Worholizer

#6 Flica Fun - My Horses.

Love my Horses, These are some pictures of the horses I have owned over the years. Currently we have 2 Arabs, 1 Grey Mare and 1 Chestnut Gelding also a Grey pony which is of an unknown breed but he is a cutie, I have had him since he was a foal. I have broken him in to ride but one day (when I get some spare free time) I would like to break him into harness.
