#23 Oh Yeh, I've done it.

Well, I've finally reached the end, or is it the beginning? Seriously I have enjoyed the challenge even though I've had to put in hours at home and fight off the offspring to use the computer.
Really liked the challenge of rss feeds once I got my head around it! Overall it was a great learning experience.

#22 Audiobooks

Love the concept of ebooks and being able to download a book to your mp3 player. Although I wonder in the far future what jobs in libraries will entail? Also the availability of broadband access would feature prominently in this process, imagine the time it would take to download an entire book using dialup. Still, we are heading to the future and by the time Libraries have evolved into ebooks as their main reading source, I'm sure that something even better than broadband will have come to pass. Gotta checkout http://www.ebooks.com/.

#21 Podcasts

Had a look at the podcast sites and liked http://www.podcast.net/ the best. Found some really cool stuff in the Sports - Basketball category ( my kids are basketball mad) www.podcast.net/cat/64 but although it had an rss feed button it informed me no feeds were found. Tried the Gardening category and was able to add that to my bloglines account. !!??
Can see the good and bad aspects of podcasts, depending on what you want to use them for, seems explicit content is easy to access even when you're not even looking for it!

#20 You 2 can U tube

Love this site, chose the video for it's fun factor & I can relate to the antics that pet birds can get up to. But I'm sure that features of this site will be useful in Library settings in the future. Such as 'how to' videos about the Library’s online features etc.

#19 Discovering Web 2.0 tools.

It was interesting checking out the various award winning sites. So much information in one place! My favourites apart from the ones we have already covered, http://www.flickr.com/ & http://www.librarything.com/ and the ones I have already discovered and used, http://www.utube.com/ & http://www.maps.google.com/ were http://www.fuzzmail.org/ something fun & http://www.clipmarks.com/. Can definitely see that some of the sites will benefit in Libraries in the future but probably not the ones I chose.

#18 Web based Apps

I joined up Zoho and had a bit of a play around. Not a bad tool but I think I would rather use my microsoft Office. Didn't explore the Google one as I have spent too much time playing with this.

Thought I'd share a joke with you that arrived via my email.

A Kindergarten pupil told his teacher he'd found a cat, but it was dead. "How do you know that the cat was dead?" she asked him. "Because I pissed in it's ear and it didn't move," answered the child innocently. "You did WHAT?!!" the teacher exclaimed in surprise. "You know," explained the boy. "I leaned over and went 'Pssst!' and it didn't move."

Why we love CHILDREN!!

I am now going to publish this to my blog.

#17 Playing with PBWiki

Added my Blog to the Favorite Blogs page.
Can't really be bothered bloging about this one. Instead I'm going to add a photo of our Rainbow Lorikeet called Rusty. This photo was taken when he/she was about 8 weeks old.

#16 So what's in a Wiki?

O.k. I now know stuff about Wiki that I didn't know before doing this exercise. Knew about Wikipedia , but didn't realise it was the only Wiki option, so to speak. Can definitely see the concept being useful as Library's head to the future of technology and online resources. It's sure to make a big imprint at some stage in the future.

#15 Library & Web 2.0

Can definitely see Library's changing in the future, everyone is going to have to keep up with Technology at some time or another, or get left behind. Look at how much has changed in the last 30 years. Computers weren't heard of when I first started work.

Guestbook

Cool, just added a Guestbook to my Blog, please feel free to visit.

#14 Getting not so Tech.

Signed in with Technorati and had a look around which just confirmed my thought that there are a lot of people into blogging.
Did the standard search for learning 2.0 which resulted in 688 Blogs & 6,936 posts. There were 688 posts tagged and the Blog directory search listed 685 blogs.
I particularly liked the entertainment Blog tag. Pity we don't have a P.C. in the lunch room, I'd never have to pay for magazines again just for some light reading at lunch time and to catch up with all the celebrity gossip.!!!
